A Heritage Tour | the Four Cardinal Points

Chose the direction you prefer to discover Northern New Mexico

3 NIGHTS | A weekend in Santa Fe offers much more than one can imagine! It allows you to discover the oldest capital city in the United States and other worlds around it. Make a choice among the directions of the tours described below and we will take you there! You will come back for more experiences! Like no other place Santa Fe offers a rich variety of cultures and human creativity.

Enjoy 1 day guided personal exclusive tour and a 3 night super saving package at one of the hotels listed below. This package includes some complimentary gifts!

North

A journey, North to Northwest, through 2 different cultures: an ancient pueblo with an important legacy, the birthplace of the most famous Native potter and artists selling out of their homes. An elegantly renovated Trading Post offers one of the best selections of Southwest art from all pueblos. Then after a further drive surrounded by amazing landscapes and mesas, - the broad, flat-topped elevations with one or more cliff like sides, common in the southwest United States – you will visit the town where scientists secretly collaborated to the Manhattan Project that ended WW2. You will complete the day with a visit to a famous Santuario, a beautiful and charming church with interesting religious folk art and known for its miraculous mud. In this small Hispanic village you will also visit some renowned workshops where the traditional weaving techniques brought by the Mexican 400 years ago are still alive.

East

This tour offers 4 different worlds in 1 day!  Travel to an historic railroad town with its distinctive stone architecture, where you will visit “La Belle of the Southwest”, a Landmark historic hotel where Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders held their first reunion in 1899; visit a place of quiet reflection where large-scale prisms bend and refract light and perception; walk through 7000 years of history among the stunning ruins of an ancient pueblo and the 17th century Mission church, and learn about the American Civil War’s New Mexico Campaign, fought and won by the Federals in early 1862, with the battle dubbed the “Gettysburg of the West”, which ended the Confederates incursions into the Southwest.

South

The small and idyllic village of Lamy was once the main train stop serving travelers coming to Santa Fe. Here the old station with its typical Harvey style is still working for the few trains running through this country. You will then cross another village nestled among cottonwood trees and surrounded by one of the best New Mexican landscapes. A treasure is situated in the area: in a beautiful 110 acres compound you will walk among some of the great sculptures of a famous Chiricahua Apache artist recognized as one of the most important of the 20th Century. (fee not incl.) An old mining town and a small “ghost” town will be your next stops, both with an interesting heritage, some historic buildings, many art galleries, funky cafes and delicious restaurants.

West

On this day you will experience culture and nature at their best: you will see teepee-like formations -unique in the Southwest – and hundreds of spires of different shades of colors from whites, to pinks and grays, sharply conical in shape, remnant of explosive volcanic eruptions of between 6 and 7 million years ago. Scattered around there are small pieces of obsidian, known locally as Apache Tears. If you like hiking you can walk through amazing slot canyons! Then you will visit a Native pueblo whose people have a long history of making fine jewelry and heishi – the beads created out of colorful stones by drilling and grounding. Initially - this art form was first recorded in 6000 B.C. - shells traded with coastal Native people represented the raw material from which jewelry was created; later turquoise and other stones became very popular and cherished by the artists and the collectors alike.
