PROGRAM
Day One. August 28.
Arrive at Cimarroncita Historic Ranch Retreat I n Northeast New Mexico late morning, and start your special Western experience with a delicious lunch served al fresco, European style. Spend the afternoon relaxing at Cimarroncita, enjoying a fishing experience on the Cimarron River or hiking up into the high country wildflower meadows. Gather late in the day to hear a local historian’s stories of the history of Cimarroncita, the Taos Pueblo, the Arts of the Southwest, and the Angel Fire Chamber Music Festival, followed by a Cowboy Cookout Dinner served on the banks of the Cimarron River around a campfire as the night sky emerges above.Day Two. August 29.
After breakfast, schedule a guided hike or a horseback ride up into the Cimarroncita high country, or simply spend the morning in “kick back and relax” mode enjoying the spectacular views of Cimarroncita. Depart after an early lunch, taking the 30-minute drive to Angel Fire for the 2 pm concert of the Angel Fire Chamber Music Festival featuring works related to this year’s theme: The Leipzeig Romantics – The Relationship Between Clara and Robert Schumann and Their Protégé, Brahms. The concert is followed by the Festival’s dinner and auction of Southwestern Art, where you will be able to bid on art to add to your own collection and support the future of the Angel Fire Chamber Music Festival. Return to Cimarroncita for the evening Campfire, tales of the day and plans for tomorrow.Day Three. August 30.
A day along the Santa Fe Trail. After your Cimarroncita Ranch Breakfast, gather for an orientation discussion about the history of the Santa Fe Trail and the region “where the Rockies meet the Plains.” Then head out to explore the Santa Fe Trail and the nearby sights. Experience a real working ranch, the ghost town of Dawson, followed by a visit to Rayado, and Kit Carson’s Outpost and Museum which offers an overview of the life and adventures of this legendary character. A special picnic lunch will feature salads, wine, and a delicious dessert. Also included are Villa Philmonte, a national bird sanctuary, Ted Turner’s bison pastures, the historic Fred Harvey era Train Station and buildings in Raton, all topped of by a final stop at a Cowboy Bar for dinner and dancing. Return to Cimarorncita for the evening campfire and late night stories.Day Four. August 31.
After your hearty Cimarroncita breakfast you will prepare for the day’s adventure and depart for your exploration of the region. Choose your option and hit the road again. OPTION A: Taos. Drive West to Eagle Nest to pick up the Enchanted Circle Scenic By-way and drive the circle to Taos, north through the Moreno Valley, over Bobcat Pass, and into the alpine-esque village of Red River, continue on the scenic byway, drop into Taos for your visits to legendary arts and literary stops as well and the Taos Pueblo and Museums and shops, with lunch at one of the delightful Taos restaurants. OPTION B: Valle Vidal. Drive on less traveled paths to the fabulous protected wilderness Valle Vidal where you will experience nature at its finest. In either event, return to Cimarroncita for a very special dinner that will celebrate your experience of the West.Every day, before you start your visits to the area an expert will give you an in-depth introduction to the history, legends, characteristics of your program and all the information and driving directions to make your tour enjoyable and easy.
Price. $1472 per person, in double room.
Price includes: four nights at Cimarroncita Ranch, all meals, lectures and entertainments at the ranch, mornings’ briefing sessions, tax and gratuities.

Travel and Life & Health insurances are recommended. An “Indemnification and Hold Harmless” agreement has to be signed by each participant before starting the trip.

Santa Fe and historic towns and sites along the way.
Day 5: Visit small towns, each offering a different insight into the history of the West. Lunch at a hotel surrounded by more than 900 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A worthwhile detour to Fort Union will offer a new element to your Western itinerary. Pecos National Historical Park gives a different perspective into New Mexico’s history and its conquest by the Conquistadores with a close look into Native ancient life and the role of Mission churches. Overnight
in Santa Fe.Day 6. In the oldest capital of the United States you will visit unique museums, interesting art galleries and historic buildings. Santa Fe also offers delicious culinary experiences.
Price per person $360. It includes 2 nights in a 3 stars hotel in Santa Fe, restaurant reservation on Day 5, a detailed itinerary, suggestions for dining options in Santa Fe, NM tax.
