"Salus per Aquas" or Health through WaterApril-November. Guided Tour
|
Day One.
Meet in Santa Fe at 9AM with your guide, board our vehicle and drive to Ojo Caliente, a place of healing waters. Check-in at the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs & Spa, and take either a short 1 mile roundtrip walk or a longer 4 mile roundtrip hike.
Spend the afternoon at your leisure: soak in the resort's mineral springs or enjoy one of Ojo's spa services.------------------------------
Day Two.
Depart for a morning of hiking in the wilderness areas of the Rio Grande Rift Valley, one of the world's few active rifts. Descend 800 feet along a steep trail to the banks of the Rio Grande River, and capture the essence of this region's volcanic past. After a picnic lunch, visit the charming artistic town of Taos and the magnificent World Heritage Site Taos pueblo. Dinner will be in Taos, returning to Ojo Caliente for the evening where you can delight in the hot springs under the stars.
------------------------------
Day Three.
After checking out from the resort, board your private vehicle for an all-day adventure whitewater rafting on the Rio Chama, considered to be "one of America's most beautiful Wild and Scenic Rivers", as it winds through multi-colored sandstone cliffs. A hearty lunch is included. At the end of an invigorating day, you will be transported to Santa Fe where you'll spend the night at the Hotel Chimayó, steps away from the 400 year old Plaza and historic area.
------------------------------
Day Four.
Discover with your private guide the history of the oldest capital city in the United States, starting from the central Plaza that dates back to 1610. The downtown tour includes a visit to the New Mexico History Museum where artifacts and pictures help you better understand the complexities of a unique and evolving culture. Next, a walk through the Palace of the Governors, the oldest public building in the country, is a unique experience in the fascinating past of Santa Fe.
A hands-on experience rounds out your vacation: with the help of a Native artist, create your own Dream Catcher to bring home and remind you of your adventure and fun-filled days in New Mexico.
The tour will end with a farewell lunch at one of the locals' favorite restaurants.------------------------------
